In January, my brother-in-law began a project to help orphans who are in desperate need of adoption. These orphans have people who want to adopt them, but the couples do not have the money available. Ben, my brother-in-law, felt called to reach out to help these orphans. He began the Ten for Orphans project. His goal is to get only 2500 people to pledge $10 per month to help get one child per month adopted.

The first child is Josiah. He is only seven years old. However, he reached the age limit for the orphanage and was sent to a mental institution in October of 2011 since no one had adopted him. Evan and Faith Jobes from Ohio are in the process of adopting him and need your help to bring him home. Approximately $20,000 is need for his adoption. Since Ten for Orphans was started last month, $10,170.00 has already been raised.
You can help by donating just $10 per month to help Josiah and others find a home. Think about the things you can do without during the month of February which cost $10. Before you purchase something this month you think you have to have, I challenge you to think, “How many orphans can I rescue (yes you are rescuing them) with this money?!?”
- Lattes from Starbucks
- One meal from a restaurant
- Daily snacks from the vending machine
- Haircut (get it cut at home, or ladies, just skip one month at the beauty shop)
- Expensive nail polish, make-up, facials, waxes, etc.
- Junk food or other items your household may not need
- New book
- New Magazine Subscription
- Computer Game
- Other items for your home you do not really need (kitchen gadgets, accessories, etc.)
- Movie ticket
- Other indulgences such as chocolate, movies, car accessories, etc.
I am sure there are many other things $10 per month will buy. Please consider how you are spending your $10 this month. Any help for these orphans will be appreciated.
You can donate now by either making a one time donation or setting up a monthly donation. $10 is the minimum asked for a monthly donation, but if you feel led to and have the means to donate more, I know it will be appreciated!
