“…God Created the Heavens and the Earth!”

cross02

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep.” Genesis 1:1-2

Today, many people are celebrating Earth Day. I am not opposed to taking care of the earth and being good stewards of what God has given me. However, I am opposed to making the earth an idol or putting the earth before God. God’s glory is to be above all the earth! He is the creator! Earth was made for the Glory of God and the benefit of man who is of much greater value than the earth or the animals upon the earth (Psalm 8 “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet.”) We are to be good stewards of the earth and take care of what God has given us! (Genesis 1:26-28)Therefore, it is very important to take care of the earth by eating organic foods, supporting organic farmers, using recycled materials, recycling and reusing what we can. Christians have known these things and practiced them for years! However, the problem comes when earth and Earth Day become our idols and God is no longer given the glory in what we are doing.

Also, remember today is Good Friday which is the day Jesus was cruicified on the cross for our sins! Then, on Sunday we will celebrate HIS ressurection! He is ALIVE today in Heaven! (Matthew 27:27-28:8; Mark 15:16-16:19; Luke 23:26-24:35; and John 19:16-20:30)

I am sure I may cause some controversy with what I have written today, but I wanted to let you know where I stand on Earth Day. Yes, I believe in taking care of the earth, but I also believe in putting God first in all I do! He should receive the honor and glory for all our accomplishments on earth!

Happy Easter!

“For God is the King of all the earth! Sing ye praises with understanding!” Psalm 47:7

“Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens, let thy glory be above all the earth!” Psalm 57:5

“Let the heaven and earth praise HIM, the seas and every thing that moveth therein!” Psalm 69:34

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away!” Luke 21:33
